It spread like a fire on the net that Tibetan spiritual leader the His Holiness Dalai Lama has joined micro-blogging service Twitter, in two days it attracted nearly 20,000 followers including me. The twitter feed— was launched on Saturday. it stands for the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
One of the messages reads:
I’m sure HH will be just as inquisitive about technology as he has been over the past 14 reincarnations.
The background message quoted:
Each of us has responsibility for all humankind. It is time for us to think of other people as true brothers and sisters and to be concerned for their welfare, with lessening their suffering.
After two days the @OHHDL account has since been suspended due to strange activity. Twitter announced on Monday morning that the OHHDL account was actually a fake. The company has been contacted by the real Dalai Lama’s office and the account has been closed.
By the time I am writing this post the another account of Dalai Lama @hisholiness is still running. Though the account do not claims to be Dalai Lama but it gives you an impression of His holiness himself tweeting on the very first glance and it should also come under impersonation.
I am currently following one of my life time Heroes Arnold Schwarzenegger @schwarzenegger and I hope this one is not fake. I don’t know how the company Twitter a social networking service which claims more than six million users of its service will take check on these occurrences, though the company has got its clause on Impersonation which says:
You may not impersonate others through the Twitter service in a manner that does or is intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others
